Pentecostal Church 'Ruach'

This is an ongoing project for several years now, improving every time my abilities within design grow. The cross is actually based on an older illustration, which I created in the time I started using editing software. This image was also used for this church in the header of the webpage.

The base illustration which is used in all items within this project was created with Photoshop. Here I searched for some great cloud photo’s which I converted to high resolution brushes. The cross itself consists of multiple wood textures placed on a drawn frame. Multiple color variations were created before the final endresult.

The website is currently a ‘quickwin’ (this is a quick redesign on the existing Content Management System). A total new design will be created when the possibility for a complete new CMS presents itself.

Battlefield Heroes illustrations

The free to play action game Battlefield Heroes from EA has me addicted for several months now. This game offers the opportunity to upgrade and change the heroes looks with money bought BattleFunds.

Illustrator is one of my favorite programs, but I rarely use it. Therefore I started creating my own heroes from in game as ‘stickers’. Trying to use the full potential of Illustrator, I was surprised that it made the cartoons look better than I initially anticipated.

I also participated in a contest within the Battlefield Heroes forums. The goal was to remake a t-shirt texture and if your design won, it would be implemented ingame and available for everyone. I was chosen along with someone else to win this awesome competition! The t-shirts are now available in the Battlefield Heroes gamestore.

These cartoons and characters are based on copyrighted material owned by EA games and DICE and are made for practice purposes only.

Puur Water (Pure Water)

The goal of this schoolproject at JUNIOR Academy Amsterdam was to create a charity foundation from the ground up. This included the whole concept, core business of the foundation, identity design, first promotional advertisement (making the name known) and a second advertising concept. This last advertising concept should be easy to extend.

My idea was to create a foundation that helps people in foreign countries where there is very little clean drinkwater. Each country in need of help will get a specific 3-month campaign from ‘Puur Water’ (= Pure Water). During this time themed bottles of water will be available in store to support that country. I took Kenya as an example.

Christian Artwork

These series of illustrations represent my beliefs and life inspiration. I really love making Christian art and hope to make many more.

The JHWH piece may make you wonder about its meaning. The bible has given us the name of God and it is written without any consonant in Hebrew. So a literal translation is JHWH, but we pronounce it as JaHWeH.

Music Illustrations

For now I have only created illustrations with Ibanez guitars as the main subject. I do not play guitar myself, but my uncle and cousin have a love for these guitars and play them aswel.

The acoustic Ibanez guitar illustration was created for the wedding invitation of my cousin. The two roses represent him and his wife, while the guitar represents how they met and started their relationship.

The electric guitar was to get my cousin back playing since he stopped doing so during a hard time in his life. I hoped it inspired him to get back on it and I love hearing him play!

Theatrical Group 'Gideon'

Gideon is a group that creates shows to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ in an easy and understandable manner. The group is formed by people from the Pentecostal church Ruach, the same church I am a member of.

In this project I created the identity of the group (logo, illustrations, business card and the website). The characters are based on actual puppets they use in their shows. The overall style of Gideon is ‘cartoony’ in a fun and safe environment. The reason for their separate website from the church is that they can be hired to do a show on location of choice.

De Poppenkist (The Puppetchest)

The two women that organize these puppet events came to me for a small design package. They wanted me to update their logo (which was hand drawn at that time) and create a smashing website, followed by a business card.

I had a hard time making the site look attractive since there was little info to be given on the site itself. And I personally believe that information can be an eye-catcher too! So I decided to create several illustrations that cover a large part of the pages. I had a lot of fun creating the different illustrations and making themt fit in the content.

This was a schoolproject where we were challenged to make an ad for a new ecological car. It was up to me to choose the car that I saw fit for this task. After a few sketches this popped up in my mind and I already saw the endresult in my head.

I had a lot of fun making this work, although my computer did not like the high-resolution photoshop file that was needed to complete this illustration.
